A Bit About Dr. Monaco
Dr. Mary Kate Monaco (maiden name: Dr. Mary Kate Halligan) currently practices physical therapy in New Castle County, Delaware. She earned her doctorate in physical therapy from the University of Scranton in northeastern Pennsylvania, where she had previously graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor's of Science in Biology.
After licensure, Dr. Monaco enrolled in Luminis Health's Orthopedic PT Residency to immerse herself in the latest research in the field of musculoskeletal physical therapy. While working towards her OCS specialization, she started this website to share clinical insights that she has learned from her patients, co-workers, and mentors. Most of the content is designed to share knowledge and research with other professionals; however, the "patient resources" page was recently created to house some of the handouts she's made to visualize concepts that arise during patient education in PT sessions.
Dr. Monaco specializes in return-to-function physical therapy, using a deep understanding of biomechanics and anatomy to guide patients to work within and beyond their limitations. She was drawn to the field because of the ability to maximize opportunities for patients who may be accustomed to being told what they cannot/should not do versus what they are capable of. While healing may not be as linear, a licensed physical therapist is the musculoskeletal expert who can design a program, answer questions, educate on pain control, and maximize outcomes focused on patient goals. If you are interested in return-to-function physical therapy in the New Castle County area, feel free to send an email or chat and we will reach out to set up an appointment.
